hello, I'm mortis, and welcome to my website! I'm a digital artist who also loves coding on the side. I'm an immigrant who was born in sonora, mexico, and am currently based in the USA.
I picked up web design in early 2023 aiming to create my own fansite, and I ended up falling in love with it as a hobby. I'm by no means a professional, but I see web design as an artform in itself and I hope that's evident throughout my website. my visual style is very much inspired by 2000's computer ui design, across eras like windows xp and vista; another major influence is my love for creepy and gaudy aesthetics like yami kawaii and gurokawa!
beyond coding with html/css, I'm an aspiring game developer/writer. I'm currently working on a visual novel and my original characters are almost all I ever talk about to anyone who knows me!! I've always wanted to create my own piece of work, something that is both personal for myself and that speaks to other people as well. I'm very inspired by both horror and romance, and love when the two are combined! I'm a sucker for obsessive love and uncoventional, weird people finding comfort in each other. some of my favorite and most influential pieces of media are:
a lot of the aesthetics and things that I like resonate with me due to my experiences with mental illness. I struggle with severe intrusive thoughts, paranoid psychosis, chronic suicidal ideation, and self-harm. these aspects of my life premeate a lot of the content I share throughout this website, being my journal entries or my own original work. because of this, this website may go through periods of inactivity or be taken down entirely for some time.
